Parents & Carers

Where has the time gone? Just the other day your child was in primary school… you blinked and now they are in their teens or early twenties and deeply into their early career journey.

Navigating a sea of choices can be confusing and overwhelming for your child and while you are engaged and can share your experiences and advice - sometimes their eyes glaze over and you recognise an additional voice would be helpful. Beyond this, you are also humble enough to know that the educational and employment landscape has changed so much that there’s a chance your well-meaning advice by itself, may cause more harm than good. Isn’t it time to enlist some qualified, independent careers guidance?

STANDING OUT IN A COMPETITIVE MARKET

In the UK and around the world, it’s a tough jobs marketplace out there but that doesn’t mean that your child/ren won’t thrive (afterall, as a qualified careers professional - it is my belief in potential to thrive regardless of circumstance which helps me do my job and support my clients well) - but it is useful to recognise current context.

As per a Bloomberg article published in June 2023, “Data from Reed Recruitment, one of the UK’s largest employment platforms, shows the number of positions available and marked suitable for graduates is about 40% below 2018 levels, and pay for those posts has declined over much of the last 18 months. While listings are up since the depths of the pandemic, they’ve declined steadily for almost two years.

“What Gina offers young people in the midst of the most stressful times in their lives is what I imagine a lighthouse offers a ship in stormy weather; calm, reassuring guidance.

I cannot overstate the value of her guidance, not only for her ability to offer constructive plans to my career development, but also the manner in which that advice is delivered. Talking to careers advisor doesn't come hand-in-hand with a truly enjoyable experience, but with Gina you leave the meeting smiling.

For any career development questions, general guidance or just someone to rant to when the labour market bites back at you: Gina is the woman for the job.”
