Schools

More often than not, careers leaders in schools are heroes. Seriously.

(And if you are on this page as a member of your school leadership team… please do recognise this and if you haven’t recently… check in on and support the careers leader / team in your school.)

Passionate. Knowledgeable. Determined. Resourceful. Well-connected. Self-starting. Idea-rich. Time-poor.

WE CAN SUPPORT YOUR SCHOOL'S CAREER PROVISION

While funding for careers support in school has been in flux since at least 2010, there have been some great advances in terms of useful structures for creating a school’s careers programme, including:

  • The Gatsby Benchmarks
  • The CDI Career Development Framework
  • The Quality in Careers Award

… and more.

Whether your school is one with a L6 qualified careers professional at the helm (this is the government recommendation), or a teacher with careers as an additional responsibility - Your Career And Future can support your careers programme with talks, workshops and training.

Founder of Your Career And Future, Gina Visram, has led careers in both the state and independent sectors for over a decade, and understands the challenges that careers leaders face. That said, she won’t make assumptions about the circumstances around your careers provision, and if you have a specific careers development opportunity that you are looking to create for your students - please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Whether you have the opportunity to create a single careers related lesson or you have more in depth opportunities like drop down days or a series of sessions, let’s explore how we can support your efforts.

Here are some examples of talks, workshops and training Your Career And Future can provide to support your school

For Staff, Senior Leadership, and Governors

  • How to re/introduce a work experience programme
  • Creating a whole school careers support culture
  • Strategy consulting half day to create or evolve your careers programme

Please note, that each of these (and topics beyond this that we can explore and co-create together) can be delivered in a variety of ways. These include:

  • A single lesson (which may be between 40-60 minutes in your school)
  • As a workshop (from 90 minutes upwards)
  • Half a day
  • A full day

The difference is the level of implementation opportunity based on time spent. While delivery in each format will be engaging and as interactive as possible, naturally - a single lesson session will take an informative / teaching approach whereas a half or full day will mean that participants truly dig deep and are supported to start the work. Sometimes, depending on what the topic is - such as LinkedIn or creating a personal brand - in a half or full day session - not only can profiles etc be set up but students can have started to learn the art of creating powerful content during the session itself.

The list of workshops / training isn’t exhaustive so please don’t hesitate to reach out with your enquiry. We may be able to co-create just what you need for your school community.

Gina is a hugely engaging early careers specialist. She was instrumental in gaining the confidence and respect of young female students in trying out their first tech work experience on one of my programmes.

And I remember her organising a recruitment event for early talent that attracted the interest of a number of different businesses across the board.

She really is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to creating employability programs which helps candidates build skills and self-belief and therefore enhance the early careers journey for students.

Businesses and educational institutions can benefit hugely from connecting with her to capture that early talent pipeline.
